I was born in 1980. I live and create in Poland.

In 2007 I graduated from The Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan. I received my master's degree in Drawing, Critics and Art Promotion and Artistic Education.

The world of my pictures

Drawing, being also searching for me, is my passion. My works are not only pictures. They break the spatial convention and constitute a form of deconstruction of the imaged reality. Deconstruction understood as reading ideograms, revealing the picture and devaluing its learned interpretations, a specific play with the space. I understand deconstruction as an exclusive perception of the world, a selective usage of the elements forming the reality that surrounds me. Every part of the object, the whole object, up to the layout of the objects is immersed in some space. Any space is a set of its fragments treated as autonomous spaces. Dismantling the space to smaller elements and extracting these fragments from the primary spatial contexts is the aim and inspiration to me. Elevating these fragmentized spaces to the autonomous beings constitutes the subject of my works.
During the process of creating the image I am aware of coming across not only fragmentization but also multitude of spaces. Apart from the one we find ourselves in I can see spaces differentiating with the indefectibility, inaccessibility in terms of physical experience, insubstantiality. Spaces for my mind, spaces in my mind, spaces in the mirror, on the screen, spaces inside the picture.

The function of the eye in the process of observation is to deal with some superior matters and to answer a few questions: where is the thing located? How far? In what relation to surroundings is it set? In my works I try to shift these issues. Looking at the draperies unmarked by the object of their usefulness, I don't care for their place in the people's space - I'm only interested in their own space. By eliminating the category of purpose of their material existence I wish the receipient's mind would get interested in new subjects. I want the receiver to find out the ability to discover the essence and beauty of the draperies but also the new spatial arrangement being created in the picture due to the their new relation.
I treat the mirror as the space as well, not as the evidence of the position. The point and the distance are not the subject of my study but the part of my statement. According to it I am able to perceive a thing in the categories of intensity, existence, self-determination depth, relation within the frame. As to the subject matter of my works I am focused to regard the draperies as the source of creating forms divested of any existential conditioning and, simultaneously, to define the key to depicting the topic through the pattern. For me, drapery is a pretext to searching for multidimentionality of forms and environments. It is the most rewarding material as it comes to its multiplicity, plasticity and ability to express any shape. The pattern on the material becomes a drawn sign that is as powerful and meaningful as gesture. It is the expression and the essence of the drawing. It becomes its beginning, the first perceptible part, the tool.

My pictures stand in opposition to deaesthetic tendencies. The technique I'm aiming to is to unite the form realism and precision obtained by sophisticated drawing sources.
The types of materials: pastel, pencil, coal, crayon are not so important themselves but only the possibilities of the visual reception they give subject crucial for me at the moment of contact with the work. In my pictures, the deepest blackness, all the shades of greyness and whiteness may create lustruous or mat surface, may be thick or delicate, satiny or suede which is very important for me in the process of drawing as it widens the sources of plastic expression of the space and maintains the quality unreproductible with the automatic techniques of the classic two-dimensional replica.
